Documents for business funding: the short list that keeps the clock short.

Most Canadian files need two things. A few cases need a third. Having them ready is the single biggest lever on speed.

The core items

A signed application with the legal business name, address, ownership and your signature.
Recent business bank statements, typically the last four months, all pages, from the account that receives your deposits.

Send statements as PDFs downloaded from online banking. Screenshots and photographs slow the review because pages and balances are hard to verify.

Void cheque or direct deposit form to set up the account that receives funds and the debit.
Photo ID for the owner, to confirm identity.
Existing agreement or payoff letter if you already have an advance, so the balance and payment are known.
Proof of ownership or a business registration where the account name differs from the trading name.

Every page, every month, with no gaps in the dates.
The account name matching the business name on the application.
Large one-off deposits explained in a line, such as a tax refund or an owner injection.
No transfers between your own accounts presented as revenue.

Do I need tax returns?

Not usually for this product. The bank statements carry the review.

Do I need to send a void cheque?

It may be requested to set up payments. Have a void cheque or a direct deposit form available.

What if my statements show transfers between my own accounts?

Funders look for deposits that are real revenue. Be ready to explain large internal transfers.

Can I send statements from more than one account?

Yes, if deposits arrive in more than one account. Send the same months from each.
