Requirements matrix

Business financing requirements, product by product.

Requirements differ more between products than between funders. This matrix puts documents, credit review, time in business, collateral and exclusions side by side, current as of October 2026.

Most requirement pages list one set of rules as if every product used them. They do not. A line of credit is read like a bank product, a revenue-based advance is read from deposits, and equipment financing leans on the equipment itself. Pick the product by the job the money does, then check its column.

The thresholds below are the ones published on our funding requirements page, as of October 2026. Funders can change programs, so the exact line that applies to your file is confirmed before any offer.

Thresholds as published October 2026. Equipment and factoring columns describe how those products are generally read; they are not separate published tiers.

Exclusions that apply across products

Non-profits are not eligible; sole proprietors are
Owners need at least 50% combined ownership on the application for Tier 1
No bankruptcy or foreclosure in the last 3 years for Tier 1; no open bankruptcy and no prior defaults for Tier 2
California and New York carry extra restrictions on the revenue-based tier
Trucking on Tier 2: 3 years, $200,000 revenue and contracts with Amazon, FedEx or UPS; regional and local carriers only
Construction on Tier 2: $500,000+ monthly revenue, 5 years, 10+ deposits a month and a commercial location

How to use the matrix on your own file

Take a business with 20 months in business, a 630 score and $38,000 a month in deposits (illustrative). It misses Tier 1 on time and credit, so the line of credit and term loan columns are out for now. It clears the revenue-based column on every line. Equipment financing remains open if the money buys a machine, because the equipment carries part of the risk.

That one pass tells you where to aim instead of applying for a product your file cannot reach.

All figures in worked examples are illustrations of the arithmetic, not offers or quotes. Real terms depend on your file and the funder.

Documents in more detail

Every column starts with recent business bank statements as complete PDFs. Read bank statements for a business loan for how to send them, and the document pack for the full checklist by product. Tax returns are not part of a typical first review; full financials are usually requested only above $250,000.

What the matrix cannot tell you

Requirements are gates, not offers. Clearing every line does not set your amount or price; those come from deposit size, balances, existing obligations and the term. Missing one line usually means a different product, not a decline.

Check your own file in a minute with the qualification check, which does not affect your credit, or apply directly.

Common questions

Which financing product has the easiest requirements?

Revenue-based funding has the lowest time and credit floors on our sheet: 6 months and a 600 FICO, with 500 considered. It is also usually the most expensive, so check whether you clear Tier 1 first.

Do all products require collateral?

Most business financing includes a UCC filing. Equipment financing is secured by the equipment and factoring by the invoices. Read the agreement for a personal guarantee as well.

Are these requirements the same at every funder?

No. These are the thresholds published on our site as of October 2026. Other funders use their own, and programs change.

Do I need tax returns?

Not for a typical first review. Full financials are usually requested only for requests above $250,000.

Can I qualify if I already have an advance?

Yes, within limits: up to 2 current advances on the revenue-based tier, and no more than 2 positions for Tier 1 products.
