Peer-to-peer lending matches business borrowers with individual or institutional investors through a platform. It can work well for the right profile. Here is how it compares with funding read from your bank statements.

A peer-to-peer (P2P) platform lists your loan request and investors fund it, usually as a fixed-term installment loan with a monthly payment. The review leans on credit history, financial statements and a written business story. It tends to fit established businesses with good credit that can wait while a request is funded.
Bank-statement funding reads your deposits instead. It tends to fit businesses with strong, steady sales and thinner credit or paperwork, and owners who need a decision the same day.
| Peer-to-peer platform | Bank-statement funding | |
|---|---|---|
| How it is funded | Investors fund your listing through a platform | A funder reviews your file directly |
| What is weighed most | Credit history, financials, business narrative | Deposits, balances, negative days, time in business |
| Paperwork | Tax returns and financial statements commonly requested | About 3 months of bank statements; no tax returns for a typical first review |
| Speed | Days to weeks, depending on how fast the listing funds | Same-day decisions on complete files; funding in as little as 24 hours for qualified businesses |
| Repayment | Usually fixed monthly installments | Daily, weekly or monthly depending on the product |
| Platform fees | Origination fees are common | Any fee deducted at funding is shown in the offer |
Platforms differ; read each one's terms on its official site before comparing.
An e-commerce seller with $70,000 in monthly deposits compares two ways to raise $50,000.
| P2P installment loan | Revenue-based offer | |
|---|---|---|
| Funded amount | $50,000 | $50,000 |
| Fee at funding | 5%, $2,500 | 2%, $1,000 |
| Net proceeds | $47,500 | $49,000 |
| Total repayment | $61,000 over 24 monthly payments | $64,500 over 26 weekly payments |
| Payment | About $2,542 a month | About $2,481 a week |
| Time to cash | About 2 weeks | 2 business days |
The P2P loan costs less in total and spreads payments over two years. The revenue-based offer costs more and is repaid in six months, but arrives in time for a holiday inventory order with a supplier discount. If the discount and extra sales are worth more than the difference in cost, speed wins; if not, the slower loan does.
All figures in worked examples are illustrations of the arithmetic, not offers or quotes. Real terms depend on your file and the funder.
We do not place peer-to-peer loans. We place term loans, lines of credit, revenue-based funding, merchant cash advances and equipment financing. Owners who clear our Tier 1, 3+ years in business and a 650+ FICO, often find the term loan comparable to a P2P loan on structure, with a review based on bank activity.
If you already have a P2P loan, it is an existing obligation: list it, with its monthly payment, on any new application.
If your credit is strong, your financials are clean, and the need is not urgent, a monthly installment loan from a platform can cost less. If timing is tight, or credit is below what platforms favor while deposits are strong, a bank-statement review is usually the faster path. Run your numbers through the factor rate calculator or see where you stand with the qualification check.
Often, for borrowers with strong credit and financials. They also tend to be slower and need more paperwork.
No. We place term loans, lines of credit, revenue-based funding, merchant cash advances and equipment financing.
Yes, if the cash flow supports both. List the P2P payment on any new application; it counts as an obligation.
Bank-statement funding: decisions are same-day on complete files. Start at the application.
Same-day decision. Applying takes a few minutes and will not affect your credit score.
