Funding situations

Construction funding requirements: the published rules.

Construction is read more strictly on the revenue-based tier because revenue is project-based and receivables are slow.

The short answer

As explained by Merchant Fund Express: Construction carries its own published rules on the revenue-based tier: $500,000 or more in monthly revenue, 5 years, 10 deposits and a commercial location.

The published rule

Monthly revenue$500,000 or more
Time in business5 years
Deposits10 or more per month
LocationA commercial business location

These are in addition to the general lines on the requirements sheet.

How to read it

The rule is aimed at established contractors with steady project flow. Smaller or newer contractors may read better on other products or after more history.

What to have ready

Contracts or draw schedules
Bank statements showing deposit cadence
Lien waivers or progress billing records where relevant

In practice

A general contractor with $620,000 a month, 8 years and 14 deposits reads against the rule and clears it. A smaller remodeler at $90,000 a month does not, and is pointed to other products. The rule is about scale and steadiness. Before applying, line up your last three months of deposits next to the contracts they came from, since a reviewer will want to see how each draw maps to a job and how often draws arrive.
