Where Kapitus draws its line
Kapitus publishes a 625 credit minimum and 2 years in business. Those two lines, not the product, are what send most files elsewhere.
Minimums are eligibility thresholds rather than approvals, and every provider changes them without notice. The figures here are each company’s own, read in September 2026.
Credit 625 · 2 years in business · $250,000/yr revenue · up to $5,000,000 · 24-72 hrs.
The same file at Merchant Fund Express
Three products sit behind one application, each with its thresholds published in full: the line of credit and term loan at 650 FICO, 3 years in business, $300,000 a year or $25,000 a month, 8+ monthly deposits; revenue-based funding at 600 FICO, 6 months in business, $60,000 revenue, $800 minimum daily balance; renewal pricing at 550 FICO, 2 years in business, once 50% of the original balance is repaid.
There is no hard credit cutoff here. The 650/600/550 tiers are product criteria, not a floor on the business. Scores in the 500s are placed routinely, and files in the 400s are read on revenue, deposit consistency and time in business rather than on the score alone.
Where Kapitus reads a 625 score as the gate, the question here is what the bank statements show. A clean account at a lower score is a stronger file than a thin one above the cutoff.
What actually decides the file
The score sets which product you are read against. The bank statements decide the rest: average daily balance, how many negative days, how many NSFs, how many deposits a month and whether revenue is steady or spiky.
The published bank-activity allowances here are up to 3 negative days a month, 9 per six months and up to 6 NSFs a month, 24 per six months. Average balance of $5,000, or 10% of monthly revenue, whichever is greater.
Questions
Is Merchant Fund Express a better fit than Kapitus?
It depends on the file. Where Kapitus needs 625 and 2 years in business, the three tiers here start at 650/3 years, drop to 600/6 months for revenue-based funding, and carry no hard cutoff below that — scores in the 500s are placed routinely.
What credit score do I actually need?
There is no hard credit cutoff here. The 650/600/550 tiers are product criteria, not a floor on the business. Scores in the 500s are placed routinely, and files in the 400s are read on revenue, deposit consistency and time in business rather than on the score alone.
How fast is funding?
Same-day decision and next business day funding on a complete file. A complete file is the application plus three months of business bank statements.
Can I get funded with an existing advance?
Yes, up to two existing positions. The line of credit can sit in second position. A position with a balance of $100,000 or less can be refinanced into a weekly-payment structure.
Will applying affect my credit?
No. Checking what you qualify for does not affect your credit score.
