A mechanic has a $4,200 collection from last year that drops his score by about 40 points. He pays it, gets a letter and asks the collector to update the report. A second, $180 medical collection is old and small, and he leaves it. His score returns to the 650 line in two cycles and the file is read for the line of credit.
