The short answer

As explained by Merchant Fund Express: the Funding Readiness Score compares your business to the thresholds we publish for each product and turns them into one number from 0 to 100. Above 80 lines up with the cheapest products; 60 to 79 is in range with one or two factors to watch; 40 to 59 usually points to revenue-based funding, a smaller amount or a refinance; below 40 means a few fixes first will likely get you a better offer.

What the score looks at

Every factor in the score is one an underwriter reads on your bank statements or application, and every threshold comes from our published funding requirements.

Monthly deposits (25 points). The size of what comes into the account each month. Tier 1 products look for $25,000 a month; revenue-based funding looks for $60,000 a year in verifiable revenue.
Average daily balance (15 points). What stays in the account. Tier 1 looks for $5,000 or about 10% of monthly revenue; revenue-based funding needs at least $800.
Time in business (15 points). 3 years for the line of credit and term loan, 6 months for revenue-based funding, 2 years for a renewal.
Personal credit (15 points). Scores from 500 are considered. 550 opens renewals, 600 opens revenue-based funding, 650 opens the line of credit and term loan.
Negative days (10 points) and NSFs (10 points). Tier 1 allows at most 3 negative days and 6 NSFs a month; revenue-based funding allows at most 5.
Existing advances (10 points). Up to two positions are allowed. More than that usually means refinancing first.
Revenue trend. Steady or growing deposits keep the score; seasonal or falling deposits take points off.

How to raise your score before you apply

Keep the account above zero for 30 to 60 days. Negative days and NSFs move the score more than almost anything else.
Run all revenue through one business account so deposits show the full size of the business.
Leave more in the account. Moving your average daily balance toward 10% of monthly revenue strengthens every product.
Avoid taking a new advance right before you apply. Each position lowers the amount and narrows the products.
If you already carry two advances, ask about a refinance or buyout before adding more.
Download clean PDF statements straight from your bank so nothing has to be re-requested.

In practice

A restaurant owner enters $45,000 in monthly deposits, a $3,000 average balance, 2 years in business, two negative days a month, no NSFs, one open advance and a 610 credit score. The score comes back 72: deposits and credit are in range, the balance and the open advance cost points. The likely fit is revenue-based funding or a second position, and a refinance is worth a conversation. After two months of leaving more in the account, the balance factor moves from OK toward strong.

What the score does not know

The score cannot see your actual statements. Underwriting also weighs the number of deposits each month (8 or more), large one-time deposits, recent bankruptcies or foreclosures (none in the last 3 years for Tier 1), the share of the business you own (at least 50%) and how much you are asking for compared with your revenue. A clean, steady account can carry a file that sits on the edge of a threshold, and a messy account can hold back a file that clears every line.

That is why the score is a starting point. The fastest way to a real answer is a short application with three months of statements. It does not affect your credit score to check.

Common questions

Does checking my score affect my credit?

No. The score runs in your browser on the answers you choose. Nothing is sent to us and no credit is pulled.

Is a high score an approval?

No. It is an estimate built from the thresholds we publish. An offer depends on your bank statements and the funder that reviews them.

Can I get funding with a low score?

Sometimes. Scores from 500 are considered, and files are read on revenue, deposit consistency and time in business, not only the score. A low readiness score usually means a smaller amount, a different product or a few fixes first.

Why does my daily balance matter so much?

Underwriters compare your average daily balance to your monthly revenue. A balance around 10% of revenue shows the account can carry a payment. Revenue-based funding looks for at least $800.

Do you fund sole proprietors?

Yes. Sole proprietors can apply. Non-profit organizations are not eligible.

Which states?

All 50 states. California and New York carry extra restrictions on the revenue-based tier.

What should I do after I get my score?

If it is 60 or above, apply and compare offers. If it is lower, fix the factors marked "needs work" where you can, or call (305) 384-8391 and we will tell you what fits today.
