The five stages
| Stage | What happens | Typical time |
|---|---|---|
| Application | You state revenue, amount and purpose | A few minutes |
| Documents | Statements, ID, voided check reviewed | You control this entirely |
| Underwriting | Deposits, history, credit and positions read | 2-4 hours on a complete file |
| Offer and contract | Amount, total repayment, term, schedule | Same day |
| Funding | Money lands in your business account | Same or next business day |
What underwriting is actually reading
Not your tax return. For deposit-based funding the underwriter is looking at how much money moves through your business account, how consistently, and how much of it is already committed to other payments.
Consistency beats size. A business depositing $40,000 a month steadily is a stronger file than one averaging $60,000 with two months near zero.
How repayment works
Short-term funding is usually repaid daily or weekly rather than monthly, taken automatically from your business account or as a share of card volume. That is the part that catches people out — the payment starts quickly and comes often.
Before signing, ask when the first payment leaves and compare it to when whatever you are buying starts producing revenue.
