How it actually works

Week one, day one to three: gather. Download complete business bank statements for the last six months directly from the bank as PDFs. Collect a government ID for every owner with 20% or more, your entity documents and EIN confirmation, and, for bank or SBA loans, two years of business and personal tax returns and a year-to-date profit-and-loss statement.

Week one, day four to seven: check. Read your own statements as an underwriter would. Count negative days, look for large unexplained transfers, returned items and personal spending. Pull your personal credit reports and dispute errors. Make sure the legal name, address and EIN are identical on every document and match state records.

Week two, day eight to ten: explain. Write a short note for anything unusual: a one-time equipment purchase, a slow month caused by a closure, a lien with a payment plan, an existing advance and how it is performing. Prepare a one-paragraph use-of-funds statement and the specific amount you are requesting.

Week two, day eleven to fourteen: decide and apply. Confirm the product type that fits your use and profile, list every existing debt with balance and payment, and submit one complete application. Through MFE, that file reaches multiple funders, with credit from 500 considered and same-day decisions possible on revenue-based products.

If your review uncovered problems that cannot be explained, such as several recent negative days, consider waiting a few more weeks for cleaner statements. A short delay often produces a better offer than applying immediately.
